Today I came home from school and as I was walking in to my kitchen, I noticed something standing up on the counter. As I got closer, I realized it was the Hallmark Collection’s Chocolate Countdown to Christmas Calendar. Every year, since I can remember, I got one of these at the beginning of December and anticipated Christmas day every day by eating a piece of chocolate rapped in paper that looked like a present and that came out of little windows with christmas quotes on the inside flap. Now, at age 17, I’m not exactly bouncing off the walls to get daily pieces of chocolate out of a festive piece of cardboard, but the joy that I got out of the advent calendar as a child carries on and brings me excitement just by knowing that it’s the time of year to start eating the chocolate.
Also, my dad’s sick right now (just a common cold) and I am so thankful and flattered that he took the time and effort to do this for me because he knows how much it means to me even while he feels like crap. I know when I have a cold, I’m not necessarily thinking of anyone else but he went out of his way to make me happy. For return (the least I can do): I’m making him his favorite foods tonight.
I’m definitely feeling the christmas spirit today - and it’s great! Hope everyone has a jolly evening :)
